Learn Guitar with the Jamorama guitar course.

You can also focus on learning the accoustic guitar or learning the lead guitar

Jamorama is a guitar course created by New Zealand outfit Rockstar Recipes. They have teamed up with Ben Edwards, who has two passions – playing guitar and teaching (in that order I would suggest). Ben had some decent commercial successful as lead guitarist with the band DegreesK but really hit his straps when he created the Jamorama Guitar course. This article will outline what the course is all about.

The course is downloaded from the internet. You download the Jamorama Maestro software that runs all the lessons, audio and video clips. You can download one lesson at a time or download them all at the same time which is handy if you have a dial up connection.

You also have a membership section where you can grab hold of the various bonuses and even take part or ask questions in the forum.

The heart of the course is the two ebooks that run in the Jamorama Maestro software. The books are titled beginner and advanced.

The beginner book starts from the top. It teaches you all the new guitar terminology including an anatomy lesson on the various parts of your guitar. There are plenty of lessons that teach you how to hold the guitar, how to strum and finger placement for the major notes and chords. The lessons build up as you learn to play chord progressions.

The book is well written and is accompanied by straightforward, good quality diagrams and photographs. This is especially relevant when it comes to finger placements and even how to strum the guitar. Describing where to put your fingers in words is terribly dry and in this case a picture really is worth a thousand words.

Many of the lessons have audio and videos to accompany them. Again, they show you how to play notes, a chord or a chord progression. In the more advanced videos they use a  split screen video so that you can see the finger placement and the strumming method.

It’s safe to say that each lesson will take around 30 to 45 minutes to go through but this depends how much you practice the skills you are learning.

The advanced ebook builds on the beginner lessons so that you get to a stage where you can play complete songs. It follows the same teaching techniques as the first book.

There are various bonuses that are more useful to the beginner – like the metronome and the guitar tuner.

The Jamorama guitar course is pretty good value and can really help you learn guitar provided you are willing to put a little effort into it.
